Environment/Charities
Wet Pleasures Dive Outfitters is extremely active in
today's environmental issues. All over the world,
natural reefs are deteriorating because of man. We also
support the local Oceans of Youth Foundation, which help
children become more aware of environmental issues and
encourage them to take interest in underwater activities.

In 2000, a 4 year old cancer patient named
Alexandra "Alex" Scott announced a seemingly simple
idea -she was holding a lemonade stand to raise money to help
"her doctors" find a cure for kids with cancer. The
idea was put into action by Alex and her older brother,
Patrick, when they set up the first "Alex's Lemonade
Stand for Childhood Cancer" on their front lawn in July
of 2000.
Today, her national campaign has raised over
$6 million for childhood cancer research. Wet Pleasures
Dive Outfitters is proud to support this cause. For more information,

Oceans for Youth volunteers bring environmental
awareness programs and materials to children of all ages.
Oceans for Youth is a nonprofit foundation designed
to encourage underwater interest in youth. By providing
educational presentation tools to volunteers, a content-rich
non-commercial Web site (for use by volunteers, teachers,
parents, and kids), and through a number of other efforts, the
foundation's programs help young people become more aware and
interested in the underwater environment.
It
is the foundation's belief that a young person introduced
early to the wonders of the oceans will naturally become more
environmentally aware and practice lifelong attitudes of ocean
conservation and protection. A natural result of our
primary goals will be to interest and prepare youth for the
joy and excitement of exploring marine environments firsthand.
Founded in 1998 by a group of dive industry professionals,
Oceans for Youth is inviting interested volunteers to help
introduce packaged programs into local communities, schools
and other appropriate youth-oriented venues.
If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, and would
like more information, visit the volunteer page at www.oceansforyouth.com
or visit us at the dive shop and we will be happy to assist
you.
